Who is Candide Thovex?
Candide was born in Annecy, Haute-Savoie, and grew up in the village of La Clusaz, France. Thovex learned to ski in the Aravis region of the French Alps, he started skiing when he was 2 years old. At the age of 8, he entered the Moguls ski club of La Clusaz. He became French Moguls champion and professional skier when he was only 14 years old. After this, he was inspired by snowboarding and started looking at skiing in a different way.Candide is the organizer of the Candide Invitational in his hometown of La Clusaz, a competition which gathers freestyle skiing and snowboarding best talents. The event was first held in the La Balme area of La Clusaz in 2002, and was last held in 2007. There are constant rumours of a return - perhaps in 2015.
